🛹 Antiz Skateboards: Grit, Guts, and European Soul
In the world of skateboarding, where corporate giants often dominate the scene, Antiz Skateboards stands out like a chipped curb in a polished plaza. Born from the streets of Lyon, France, Antiz is a brand that has always worn its scrapes and scars with pride. It’s not just a company—it’s a movement.
🌍 Origins: Lyon’s Raw Rebellion
Antiz was founded in 2002 by three skaters with a vision: Hugo Liard, Julian Dykmans, and Julien Bachelier. Their goal wasn’t to build a brand that catered to trends or polished aesthetics. They wanted something real—something that reflected the raw, unfiltered energy of European street skating. From the start, Antiz was fiercely independent and skater-owned, a rarity in an industry increasingly shaped by big business.
🎥 Notable for the Grit
Antiz quickly carved out a reputation for its gritty, low-budget skate tours across Europe. These weren’t glossy productions—they were road trips fueled by passion, filmed in back alleys, abandoned lots, and forgotten corners of cities. Their early videos like Antizipated (2003), Z Movie (2007), and The Occasional Antiz Flashback (2011) became cult classics among skaters who valued authenticity over polish.
In 2012, they dropped X Years, a retrospective promo that celebrated a decade of hobo-style shredding. Collaborations with Carhartt WIP added a layer of creative flair, including the visually stunning Swiss Banks film in 2013, which blended surreal spots with alpine landscapes and custom graphics.
🧢 Sponsored Riders and Team Spirit
Antiz has always been about the crew. Over the years, their team has included some of Europe’s most respected skaters: Remy Taveira, Sam Partaix, Samu Karvonen, Gabriel Engelke, Dominik Dietrich, Roland Hirsch, Teemu Pirinen, Peter Molec, and Dallas Rockvam (who later moved to Frank Skateboards). These riders weren’t just sponsored—they were family. The brand also supported flow riders like Quentin Boillon, keeping the grassroots spirit alive.
Meanwhile, their Lyon headquarters continues to produce decks, accessories, and clothing that reflect their punk ethos. From music-inspired graphics to limited-edition collaborations, Antiz remains a beacon for skaters who value soul over style.
