About Madrid Skateboards

In the late 1960s, Jerry Madrid began shaping surfboards in his parents’ Southern California garage. When the waves weren’t ideal for surfing, Jerry turned his attention to shaping skateboards for himself and his friends.

Officially founded in 1976, Madrid Skateboards enlisted the help of Jerry’s brothers, Jim and Jeff, to assist in operations. Jerry, who also worked as a firefighter, combined his passion for skating with craftsmanship.

Madrid Skateboards gained recognition for developing some of the first modern concaves in the market and throughout the 1980s, Madrid collaborated on iconic projects including:

Madrid x Valterra Skateboard: Ridden by Marty McFly in the original Back to the Future movie.
Vans x Madrid Fly Shoe: The first co-branded skate shoe from Vans.

Team Riders:
Harry Clarke: A modern-era World Champion, Harry travels the world in search of race wins and new skate spots.
Justin Rolo: Known for Colorado Pagan style, Justin designed the unique Trapstar downhill deck.
Zak Maytum: An influential figure in downhill skateboarding, Zak revolutionized deck, truck, and wheel design.
Zak Mills Goodwin: A versatile skater excelling in park, freeride, downhill, and freestyle.
Rydelle Abarico: The Queen of the Philippines, Rydelle achieved remarkable success in a short time.
Adrien Paynel (Frenchy): A fast-rising racer with fire in his eyes and a killer freeride style.

Skateboard legends that have skated for Madrid Skateboards over the years include: Claus Grabke, Eddie 'El Gato' Elguera, Mike Smith, and Beau Brown.

Currently, Madrid Skateboards continues to craft boards from its Huntington Beach factory, adhering to the belief that boards should be crafted to perfection and guaranteed to perform.

The legendary skateboard brand’s authentic roots and cherry-picked collaborations contribute to its longevity, and Madrid Skateboards remains a testament to innovation, quality, and perseverance in the skateboarding world.
