In the world of skateboarding, few brands carry the spirit of cultural rebellion and artistic authenticity quite like Nomad Skateboards. Born from a dream to challenge the dominance of American skate brands, Nomad has grown into a European powerhouse with a unique identity rooted in travel, creativity, and community.
Nomad Skateboards was founded in Zaragoza, Spain, in 2001 by a group of passionate friends who were tired of overpriced American skate gear and uninspired graphics. Their goal? To create an alternative brand that reflected their lifestyle, supported the Spanish skate scene, and offered high-quality products with original designs.
The name “Nomad” wasn’t just a catchy label—it was a philosophy. The founders embraced nomadism as a metaphor for the skateboarding life: traveling, discovering new spots, meeting people, and constantly evolving.
Nomad isn’t just about decks and wheels—it’s a cultural movement. Here's what sets them apart:
First Spanish Skate Brand: They proudly hold the title of Spain’s first homegrown skateboard company.
Artistic Collaborations: Deeply involved in Zaragoza’s underground art scene, Nomad works with local designers and artists to keep their graphics fresh and expressive.
Global Reach: From humble beginnings, Nomad now distributes in over 22 countries, supporting skateboarding communities across Europe and beyond.
Authentic Philosophy: Their products reflect a way of thinking—raw, real, and rooted in street skating.
Nomad has built a strong team of riders who embody its ethos. One standout is Andrés Díaz “Niki” Caloca, a long-time skater sponsored by Nomad alongside brands like Lakai and Popcorn Hardware. His favorite trick? The classic kickflip. Nomad’s team riders are known not just for their skills, but for their dedication to street skating and DIY culture.
The brand also runs tours and video projects, showcasing their riders in cities like Madrid and Vigo. These aren’t just promotional stunts—they’re celebrations of skateboarding’s raw energy and community spirit.
One of Nomad’s most ambitious projects was “The Road to Tokyo”, a 39-day relay from Spain to Japan to promote skateboarding’s inclusion in the Olympic Games. Eight skaters crossed eight countries, delivering a custom “torch” skateboard to the IOC president. It was a bold, creative campaign that captured the essence of Nomad: grassroots passion meets global vision.
Nomad continues to evolve. Recently, they’ve partnered with Acedeck to develop the Nomad N3, a high-performance electric skateboard that’s making waves in the e-skate community. With upgraded gear drives, redesigned trucks, and powerful motors, the Nomad N3 is a futuristic leap while staying true to the brand’s adventurous spirit.
They also maintain an active presence on YouTube and social media, sharing skate edits, rider intros, and behind-the-scenes content that keeps fans connected to the brand’s journey.
