Jason Acuña, better known to the world as "Wee Man," is one of skateboarding’s most recognizable personalities—not just for his tricks, but for his fearless attitude and unforgettable presence in pop culture. From his early days in Southern California skate shops to becoming a household name through Jackass, Acuña’s journey is as wild and inspiring as his stunts.
Born: May 16, 1973
Birthplace: Pisa, Tuscany, Italy
Raised in: South Bay area of Los Angeles, California
Heritage: Mexican and German descent
Condition: Born with achondroplasia, a form of dwarfism
Jason's father was stationed in Italy with the U.S. Army when he was born, but the family soon moved to Hermosa Beach, California. From a young age, Jason showed an outsized personality and confidence that would later become his trademark.
Jason’s love for skateboarding began in the beach towns of Southern California. He worked at ET Surf, a local surf and skate shop, and frequently skated in nearby neighborhoods. His nickname "Wee Man" was coined by Steve Rocco’s brother during a visit to the World Industries warehouse—a name that stuck and eventually became iconic.
His big break came when he joined Big Brother, a notorious skateboarding magazine known for its edgy content and wild stunts. Jason started as a subscription manager but quickly became a featured personality in the magazine’s videos, including one where he painted himself blue and skated through Hollywood.
In 2000, Jason became a pop culture phenomenon through MTV’s Jackass. His stunts—often outrageous and physically demanding—challenged stereotypes about little people and showcased his fearless spirit. Some of his most memorable moments include:
Skating dressed as an Oompa Loompa
Kicking himself in the head
Carrying Shaquille O’Neal on his back while doing squats
Popping out of suitcases to surprise people in public
His chemistry with the Jackass crew, especially in recurring gags with Preston Lacy, made him a fan favorite.
Jason appeared in nearly every Jackass film and spin-off, including:
Jackass: The Movie (2002)
Jackass Number Two (2006)
Jackass 3D (2010)
Jackass 3.5 (2011)
Jackass Forever (2022)
He also starred in Elf-Man (2012), his first family-friendly feature, and appeared in Grind (2003), a skateboarding comedy.
While Jason wasn’t known for pioneering new tricks, his style was all about creativity, humor, and guts. He could hold his own in a bowl or street session, often using his size to his advantage in unique ways. His sponsors over the years included:
World Industries
Big Brother Magazine
Chronic Tacos (his own franchise venture)
He also had pro model decks released through World Industries, often featuring playful graphics that matched his personality.
Jason is the proud founder and investor in Chronic Tacos, a fast-casual Mexican restaurant chain. His first location opened in Redondo Beach, California, and after some ups and downs, he launched another successful franchise in Long Beach.
Beyond Jackass, Jason hosted Fox Sports Net’s skateboarding show 54321, starred in Armed and Famous, and competed in Celebrity Circus, where he earned a perfect score for one of his performances.
As of now, Jason Acuña resides in Pisa, Italy—returning to his birthplace. He continues to make appearances, engage with fans, and promote his restaurant brand. Though he's not skating professionally anymore, his legacy in both skateboarding and entertainment remains strong.
