In the ever-evolving world of skateboarding, few companies have managed to carve out a legacy as unique and enduring as Orion Trucks. Born from a desire to innovate and empower skaters, Orion has been more than just a brand—it’s been a movement.
The story of Orion Trucks begins in 1993, when a mysterious industry veteran known as Mr. Virgo approached a young and ambitious Rob Dyrdek with a proposition: start a skateboard truck company. At just 19 years old, Dyrdek—already a pro skater for Alien Workshop—accepted the challenge. He envisioned a brand that would be tight-knit, rider-driven, and proudly skater-owned.
Joining forces with fellow legends Kareem Campbell and Eric Koston, Orion Trucks was officially founded in 1995. The trio wanted more than sponsorship—they wanted ownership and influence. Together, they built a company that reflected their values and style.
Orion wasn’t just another truck company. It was a design-forward, rider-first brand that emphasized:
Lower-profile trucks to match the smaller boards and wheels of the era
Powder-coated finishes, helping spark the trend of colored trucks
Durability and precision, with aluminum and steel components engineered for performance
Aesthetic appeal, with a clean logo and branding that skaters were proud to rep
Orion’s trucks were known for their smooth turning radius and solid construction, making them a favorite among street skaters and technical riders.
Orion Trucks quickly assembled a dream team of riders who defined skateboarding in the late '90s and early 2000s. Their roster included:
Rob Dyrdek
Kareem Campbell
Eric Koston
Ronnie Bertino
Tom Penny
Josh Kalis
Kris Markovich
Steve Berra
Karl Watson
After a brief hiatus in the early 2000s, Orion made a comeback in 2011 with a refreshed team featuring:
Pat Duffy
Ryan Decenzo
Clint Peterson
Marty Murawski
Marek Zaprazny
John Hanlon
These riders helped reintroduce Orion to a new generation of skaters, bringing the brand’s legacy full circle.
Today, Orion Trucks continues to operate with the same passion and commitment to quality that defined its early years. Their trucks are made using 365 T high-grade aluminum, and they’re still tested by some of the best skaters on the planet.
The brand maintains a presence online and through social media, showcasing team edits, product releases, and skate content. Orion Trucks are also distributed internationally, including in the UK and Ireland via iFive Distribution.
While their website is currently under construction, Orion remains active through platforms like YouTube and Instagram, keeping the community engaged and inspired.
