In the rich tapestry of British skateboarding, few brands have left as enduring a mark as Landscape Skateboards. Born from the gritty streets of London and nurtured by a crew of passionate skaters, Landscape was more than just a company—it was a movement, a community, and a creative force that shaped the UK skate scene for over a decade.
Landscape Skateboards officially launched in 2003, founded by Mark ‘Fos’ Foster, a respected figure in skateboarding and graphic design. The brand emerged from the ashes of Organic Skateboards, a short-lived but influential project. Landscape’s first release wasn’t a deck or a tee—it was a VHS video titled Portraits, filmed by the late Chris Massey, featuring the original team: Olly Todd, Joel Curtis, Daniel ‘Snowy’ Kinloch, and Toby Shuall.
From the outset, Landscape embraced a minimalist, stylish approach to street skating. It wasn’t about gimmicks—it was about clean lines, raw talent, and authentic British grit.
Landscape quickly became a cornerstone of UK skateboarding. Their videos—Portraits, Horizons, and the final Seasons—are considered classics, showcasing not just technical prowess but a deep love for the culture. The brand was known for:
High-quality skate decks and apparel, often designed and produced in the UK
Stylish, understated graphics, many created by Fos himself
A strong connection to Manchester, earning the nickname “Mancscape” due to its roster of Northern talent
Their final video, Seasons, was a heartfelt farewell, dedicated to beloved team members Chris Massey, Ben Raemers, and Chris ‘Bazra’ Barrett. It featured standout parts from Joe Gavin, Nick Stansfield, Jethro Coldwell, Keanu Robson, and others—an emotional send-off that captured the soul of the brand.
Landscape built one of the most respected teams in UK skateboarding. Over the years, they sponsored:
Daniel ‘Snowy’ Kinloch – original team member and later brand manager
Joe Gavin – known for his creative street skating and video production
Nick Stansfield – elevated to pro status with a signature deck featuring singer Lisa Stansfield
Jeremy Jones, Ash Hall, Jin Shimizu, Keanu Robson, Scott Anderson, and more
These riders weren’t just team members—they were ambassadors of a style and ethos that defined Landscape.
In 2019, Landscape released Seasons, their last video, and announced the brand’s closure. The decision marked the end of an era, but it was done with grace and gratitude. As Fos wrote, “Landscape existed as long as it did because of all of you.”
Though the brand is no longer active, its influence lives on. Former team members continue to skate, film, and contribute to the scene. Snowy, for instance, now runs Wayward Skateboards, carrying forward the spirit of innovation and community.
