The Backyard BMX Jam began in 1991 in Hastings, UK, and quickly became a legendary fixture in the BMX scene, known for its raw energy, wild tricks, and community-driven vibe. Created by Stu Dawkins and Seventies Distribution, the event ran through the '90s and early 2000s, attracting top riders from around the world and helping shape UK BMX culture. After a hiatus following the final jam in Sheffield in 2006, it was revived in 2019 as a national series aimed at nurturing new talent and preserving the spirit of freestyle BMX. The jam’s legacy lies in its blend of high-level riding and grassroots enthusiasm, making it a defining chapter in BMX history.
